CBP is a not for profit no-kill rescue and rehabilitation shelter for farm animals. The farm is open to the public; tours of all sizes can be accommodated (reservations required). Animals are available for adoption. It's a perfect family destination
Visit our shelter located on beautiful Sodus BayPack a picnic and hit the road to visit a nearby destination that your family will want to return to again and again - Cracker Box Palace Farm Animal Haven at Alasa Farms. Formerly a historic Shaker community in Alton, NY that was home to 150 people in the early 1800’s, this magnificent farm overlooking beautiful Sodus Bay is now home to over 150 animals, including horses, rabbits, pigs, chickens, geese, ducks, goats, sheep, and we now have llamas! It's a unique place in Wayne County where farm animals of every kind can come to recover from illness, neglect or abuse, to learn they still have friends and family after abandonment, or just to find new people when their families can no longer care for them. Their care and housing is funded totally through memberships, sponsorships, donations, and grants and most of our animals are available for adoption to appropriate homes. The Palace is a registered not for profit, no-kill haven; if animals cannot be placed in suitable adoptive homes they will be allowed to live out their lives in safety and peace, knowing that they will be cared for and loved.
Visitors and tour groups are always welcome at the farm; it’s a great place for scout troops, community and school groups. You’ll get to meet our sweet, lovable farm animals, pet our gentle sheep and horses, feed our goats, and enjoy our special events. Our three story Shaker barns are architectural wonders, and feature wainscoting on the ceilings and walls, and even in the horses’ stalls! There’s a museum with original Shaker farm artifacts, and there are gifts for all ages in our Gift Shop. You can hike on our nature trail and hunt for fossils by the creek, go for a hayride, or bring your family for an apple “pick and picnic” day. Or, if you like, you can just sit down and savor the beautiful view of our animals in their lush pastures overlooking sparkling Great Sodus Bay. For those interested in spending more time at the farm, volunteers are always needed and welcomed; call for information. Summer Hours: Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and by appointment. Please call ahead to schedule farm tours; we also provide specialty animal care tours and birthday parties. Admission is free (there is a nominal charge for tour groups); donations are gratefully accepted. We look forward to seeing ewe!
